GOGLA is seeking to elevate the role of the Off-Grid Solar industry as the fastest, most cost-effective and sustainable way to deliver universal energy access, and through that improve lives and livelihoods, help deliver green growth in developing economies, and contribute to climate resilience and adaptation.
The Senior Representative, Policy and Investment will lead GOGLA's policy advocacy and investment engagement efforts in Nigeria and contribute to regional initiatives across Africa. The role bridges policy development, industry finance, and member engagement, ensuring GOGLA's members have a strong voice with governments, investors, and development partners.
Location: Nigeria
Reporting to: Head of Policy and Regional Strategy
Duration: 1 year, possibility of extension of another 2 years based on performance and linked to duration of funded programs
Hours: full-time
Salary range: 4700 - 5200 euro gross per month
Starting date: As soon as possible

Core Tasks:
Policy and Advocacy (Nigeria and Africa)
Lead GOGLA’s policy and public funding engagement in Nigeria, advocating for an enabling environment and effective subsidy/RBF for the off-grid solar sector.
Support pan-African policy campaigns on regulatory reform, market incentives (including RBF's and catalytic grants), and sustainable finance.
Build strong relationships with government ministries, regulators, regional institutions and development partners active in Nigeria and the West Africa region (including REA, ECOWAS, ROGEAP).
Draft policy briefs, position papers, and consultation responses that reflect member priorities.
Represent GOGLA at national and regional policy dialogues, workshops, and conferences.
Investment and Finance Engagement
Engage with DFIs, commercial banks, and impact investors to mobilize finance for the solar sector.
Identify and communicate investment opportunities and barriers to stakeholders.
Convene dialogues between members and financiers, helping unlock new partnerships and funding flows.
Monitor and report on market investment trends relevant to members and advocacy.
Member Engagement and Support
Act as the primary point of contact for members in Nigeria, supporting their needs and amplifying their voices in advocacy and investment dialogues.
Collaborate with GOGLA’s subject-matter leads to promote business resources and tools – such as standards and performance metrics - to member companies.
Facilitate member consultations to shape advocacy priorities and member services.
Promote opportunities for peer learning, networking, and visibility at national level.
Support the onboarding of new members in the region and communicating the value of membership.
Representation, Insights and Communication
Serve as the public face of GOGLA in Nigeria, ensuring consistent messaging aligned with the association's strategy.
Prepare reports, updates, and insights for senior management.
Collaborate with communications teams to highlight policy wins, investment progress, and member stories.
Serve as knowledge expert to guide GOGLA's engagement in Nigeria and the region.
Shared Responsibilities:
Responsible for project management across project lifecycle, from design and delivery to evaluation and learning, as assigned.
Manage designated budgets to ensure responsible expenditure and budget control within GOGLA procedures.
Contribute to fundraising activities by preparing proposals and managing communications with donor’s projects supporting GOGLA's strategic goals.
Promote a supportive, inclusive environment where clear expectations, continuous learning, open communication and collaboration are encouraged. Help the team stay responsive, knowledgeable and confident in delivering results.
Other tasks related to GOGLA's core operations and/or the Policy and Regional Strategies team, as required or as identified by the Leadership Team.
About you:
The ideal candidate will have a strong foundation of experience and expertise that includes:
Master’s degree in international business or similar topic.
Minimum of 7 years’ experience working with business, trade, or investment issues focused on Africa.
Experience in project or program management and delivery.
Expertise in the trade and investment policy formulation process and issues related to energy access.
Strong professional connections in Nigeria, across West Africa, the off-grid business community, and development partners.
Job-related Competencies
In addition, the following work-related competencies are required for this role:
Excellent and proven networking, communication, and presentation skills in English
Excellent writing skills (Experience in writing reports, proposals, publications).
Experience in the public policy development cycle.
Experience with fundraising and budget management.
Project or program implementation and delivery experience.
Strong moderation and coordination skills and ability to facilitate outcome-oriented meetings with diverse stakeholders.
Ability to think strategically and analytically and work creatively.
Ability to communicate professionally and convincingly with stakeholders at various levels of seniority.
The ability to travel in the region and beyond.
Desire to work in a small, diverse, international team.

Desirable competencies
French communications skills
Experience in policy and advocacy work or working within industry associations is an added advantage.
